Littleton Public Schools (LPS) is a top-performing school district just south of Denver that serves about 13,000 students across a 28‑square‑mile area. Serving approximately 13,000 students across 28 square miles (including the majority of the City of Littleton, the Town of Columbine Valley, and portions of the municipality of Bow Mar), LPS includes 26 schools ranging from preschool through Grade 12, as well as charter and alternative education programs.
Guided by its “100 percent goal,” that every student graduates prepared for meaningful post-secondary opportunities, LPS is committed to providing a safe, inclusive, and high-performing learning environment. With strong community support and a focus on both student well-being and academic excellence, safety remains a foundational priority across the district.
Since installation, the Midvale location has prevented an estimated 12 to 18 incidents from escalating. Most trespassers are deterred after the first warning, and operators can communicate directly through built-in microphones and speakers, reducing the need for law enforcement intervention and preserving community resources.
The LPS leadership had an urgent need to modernize its security infrastructure to manage a wide range of safeguarding and security challenges across its 26 schools. These included students leaving campus unexpectedly, bullying, vandalism, and trespassing.
LPS needed to ensure that missing students could be quickly located, that situations did not escalate, and potential trespassers could be detected and tracked in real time. The district’s legacy DVR systems lacked the scalability, accessibility, and intelligence required to support these evolving security demands.
Beyond campus boundaries, the district also supports the wider community, including assisting law enforcement with incidents in surrounding areas and maintaining visibility into events that could impact school safety, such as nearby wildfires or crime. Having a solution that could share encrypted footage with law enforcement was essential. Moreover, the system needed to be easy to use and accessible to staff, enabling faster response times and more proactive safeguarding.

LPS partnered with 3xLOGIC to implement a scalable, district-wide video surveillance ecosystem built on VIGIL VMS, hybrid NVR infrastructure, and VISIX cameras. Having worked together since 2018, 3xLOGIC was a trusted choice for the leadership team, with 1,400 cameras originally installed. Now, the system has grown to over 1,500 cameras across the district’s many campuses.
