How to Commission the EIDC Controller to an On-Prem INFINIAS Server

Whether you’re commissioning an EIDC+ Controller or an EIDC32 Controller, the process is nearly identical when using the INFINIAS Connect application.

In this guide, we’ll walk through the steps required to discover, configure, and commission your controller so it can be used to create doors within the INFINIAS platform.

commissioning the EIDC Controller tutorial

Before you start

Before commissioning the controller, you’ll need the following:

  • An INFINIAS server running version 7.0 or later
  • Server IP address
  • INFINIAS credentials
  • PoE switch
  • An EIDC+ or EIDC32 Controller
  • Desired static IP address
  • INFINIAS Connect app
  • Network patch cables

1. Connect the controller to the network

Start by connecting your EIDC Controller to a PoE switch. If you’re using a 3xLOGIC 1U Server, you can take advantage of its built-in 8-port PoE switch to power and connect the controller.

The server’s primary network port and any standalone PoE switch should be connected to your main network. Once all connections are made, allow the controller to complete its boot process before proceeding.

2. Log in to INFINIAS

Next, access the INFINIAS platform using either:

  • The server’s IP address from a browser on the same network
  • http://localhost when accessing directly from the server itself

When using the INFINIAS Connect app, use the same entries for the URL field.

If you’re working directly on the server, enter http://localhost. For a separate workstation, enter HTTP:// followed by the server’s IP address.

Then, log in to both the INFINIAS platform and the INFINIAS Connect app using the same credentials.

3. Discover the EIDC Controller

Once logged into INFINIAS Connect, locate your controller by performing a network discovery. Select the network range you want to search and then click Discover Devices.

As the scan completes, available EIDC Controllers should begin appearing in the Discover Devices window. Double-click the controller you want to commission.

Before continuing, you may want to navigate to the Create Door area in INFINIAS and verify that no controller serial numbers are currently available. Once commissioning is complete, the controller’s serial number will appear and become available for door creation.

4. Configure network settings

After opening the controller, select Modify Network Information to review its current network configuration.

By default, the controller is configured to use DHCP. For most installations, it is recommended to assign a static IP address to ensure reliable communication with the server.

To configure a static IP address:

  • Disable DHCP.
  • Enter the desired static IP address.
  • Save the changes by selecting Send to Devices.

Important note: The controller will automatically reboot whenever network settings are changed.

5. Configure the host address

Once the network settings have been verified, configure the controller’s host address.

The host address should match the IP address of the INFINIAS server: the same address used to access the platform from your web browser.

Enter this IP address into both the Primary and Secondary host fields.

Leave the port settings unchanged unless specifically instructed otherwise. When finished, select Send to Device to apply the configuration.

6. Verify successful commissioning

After the configuration has been sent, the controller will begin communicating with the INFINIAS server. Depending on network conditions, this process may take a few minutes.

To verify successful commissioning:

  1. Return to the Create Door section in INFINIAS.
  2. Click Refresh periodically.
  3. Wait for the controller’s serial number to appear in the available serial number list.

Once the serial number appears, the commissioning process is complete and the controller is ready to be used for door creation and access control configuration.

Troubleshooting tips

If you run into issues during commissioning, review the following:

  • Remember that the controller will reboot after network changes.
  • Verify the controller and server are connected to the same network.
  • Confirm the controller received the correct static IP address.
  • Ensure the host address matches the INFINIAS server’s IP address.
  • Allow several minutes for communication before refreshing the serial number list.
  • If the controller does not appear during discovery, verify network connectivity and scan the correct IP range.
