Whether you’re commissioning an EIDC+ Controller or an EIDC32 Controller, the process is nearly identical when using the INFINIAS Connect application.
In this guide, we’ll walk through the steps required to discover, configure, and commission your controller so it can be used to create doors within the INFINIAS platform.
Before commissioning the controller, you’ll need the following:
Start by connecting your EIDC Controller to a PoE switch. If you’re using a 3xLOGIC 1U Server, you can take advantage of its built-in 8-port PoE switch to power and connect the controller.
The server’s primary network port and any standalone PoE switch should be connected to your main network. Once all connections are made, allow the controller to complete its boot process before proceeding.
Next, access the INFINIAS platform using either:
When using the INFINIAS Connect app, use the same entries for the URL field.
If you’re working directly on the server, enter http://localhost. For a separate workstation, enter HTTP:// followed by the server’s IP address.
Then, log in to both the INFINIAS platform and the INFINIAS Connect app using the same credentials.
Once logged into INFINIAS Connect, locate your controller by performing a network discovery. Select the network range you want to search and then click Discover Devices.
As the scan completes, available EIDC Controllers should begin appearing in the Discover Devices window. Double-click the controller you want to commission.
Before continuing, you may want to navigate to the Create Door area in INFINIAS and verify that no controller serial numbers are currently available. Once commissioning is complete, the controller’s serial number will appear and become available for door creation.
After opening the controller, select Modify Network Information to review its current network configuration.
By default, the controller is configured to use DHCP. For most installations, it is recommended to assign a static IP address to ensure reliable communication with the server.
To configure a static IP address:
Important note: The controller will automatically reboot whenever network settings are changed.
Once the network settings have been verified, configure the controller’s host address.
The host address should match the IP address of the INFINIAS server: the same address used to access the platform from your web browser.
Enter this IP address into both the Primary and Secondary host fields.
Leave the port settings unchanged unless specifically instructed otherwise. When finished, select Send to Device to apply the configuration.
After the configuration has been sent, the controller will begin communicating with the INFINIAS server. Depending on network conditions, this process may take a few minutes.
To verify successful commissioning:
Once the serial number appears, the commissioning process is complete and the controller is ready to be used for door creation and access control configuration.
If you run into issues during commissioning, review the following:
Now that you’ve successfully commissioned your INFINIAS EIDC Controller, you’re ready to create doors and build your access control system.
